What to Expect
Prior to your first session
It is essential that you obtain veterinary consent -for which i will provide you with a form for your vet to complete . I work under the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 and Exemption Order 2015, and without consent I cannot massage your dog. Please return your completed and signed veterinary consent form to me prior to the first session.
The Sessions
Each session is performed as a therapeutic home comfort at your home, in the environment where your dog is most relaxed. This is particularly beneficial to the older dog, who is less happy travelling, or for those recovering from orthopaedic surgery.
First session - lasts 90 minutes
Involving evaluation of your dog’s gait, palpation of their key muscles, assessment of their home environment and lifestyle, factoring in veterinary diagnostics and is followed by a full body massage acknowledging and focusing on these observations.
Subsequent sessions
Last in the region of 45-60 minutes - involve reassessing changes and a full body massage.
Soft tissue issues are generally resolved within 1-3 sessions.
For those with underlying orthopaedic issues such as arthritis maintenance sessions can be arranged -usually on a 6 weekly basis depending on the individual.
Importantly the sessions involve listening to you and your dog, and together we work to minimise pain, maximise function and improve and extend your dogs quality of life.
